Visit the recently renovated and refitted Gawler Museum with many items of interest including historic displays of migration, fashions and the foundries of Gawler together with heritage displays. Visit the Gawler Community Galler in the state heritage-listed stationmaster's house and view an exhibition featuring historic buildings, landscapes or identities of Gawler portrayed by artists and photographers. Wednesday 15 & Friday 17 - Gawler - Home of Cricket Bat Making in South Australia
Since 1984 cricket bats have been made in South Australia by the Kumnick and Fielke families at Lobethal, Murray Bridge, Yankalilla and now in Gawler. Current bat maker and author Bob Fielke presents an illustrated talk of that history with morning tea and a demonstration of how bats are made. Gawler South developed rapidly after the opening of the Gawler train station in 1857. Industry and hotels developed. Hundreds of stone workers’ houses were built over 50 years for employees of Gawler foundries, including May Bros foundry at Gawler South. Gawler South had a local council 1899-1933 and separate community facilities. A guided 2 hour walk including cup of tea. Bookings required. Commences at the Gawler Railway Station, Twenty-third Street, Gawler South. 2.00pm - 4.00pm. Visit the Gawler Old Telegraph Station M
useum, then take a 30km round trip bus tour to the Shea-Oak Log Machinery Museum on the Sturt Highway where there is a fantastic display of heritage farm machinery, vehicles and tractors, most in working order. Wednesday 22 - Bindjareb Pinjarra - Come Out Festival Show
Concerts: 11.00am & 1.30pm. Tickets: $15 student, $12 equity. Age group: 10yo+ Some mild coarse language.This hilarious and thought provoking play has been acclaimed across Australia by audiences and critics alike. Dealing with Western Australia's 1834 Pinjarra Massacre, and its contemporary reverberations, this unique play has found enthusiastic support from elders, educators and young audiences. Created by Nyoongar and Wadjella actors, Bindjareb Pinjarra demonstrates extraordinary risk-taking through its fusion of history, outrageous comedy and tough physical theatre. The work is alive with improvisation, taking ideas from the audience. It speaks directly from the heart about how we all share the same history, and how by understanding our past we can work together towards a better future. Each performance is followed by a short Q & A debrief, allowing those attending to deal with the tragedy, share local stories and depart in good spirits. Friday 24 - Rally SA Super Special Stage
Gawler will host a Super Special Stage as part of the Scouts Rally SA between 6.00pm and 9.00pm at Prices Park, Nixon Terrace.  This exciting event will include a ceremonial start and a time trial along a designated route with the grounds of Princes Park, Gawler Oval and sections of Patterson Terrace and Nixon Terrace.  There will be plenty to do for all the family with entertainment and displays as well as the exciting racing.  Tickets - Adults $10, Children (under 16)/Concession $5, Family @ Adults, 2 Children) $25.  For further information phone (08) 85229 200

For all those art and craft lovers Gawler has an event for you.  The weekend brings together the many and varied craft, art, textile and quilting groups in the Gawler area and showcases the magnificent work done by the members of each of these groups.  This weekend has been held biannually since 1999.
