Town of Gawler - Council Funded Volunteer Programs

Council Funded Volunteer Programs

Volunteers play a vital and valuable role in the provision of services to the Town of Gawler. The Town of Gawler Volunteer Services comprises a diverse range of people who come together with the common interest of enhancing the provision of services in our town. The Town of Gawler manages a wide range of key volunteer services throughout the Gawler town and community.

Volunteering can be fun - meeting new people, helping others and developing new skills.
If you would like to be a valued volunteer - we would like to hear from you.
It is also about Volunteers sharing and developing their personal skills, providing opportunities to make new friends and strengthening links between people in the town.
The range of volunteering opportunities within the Town of Gawler's Community programs includes:

The Graffiti Removal Program operates on Wednesday and Thursday each week, and is based at the Council Depot, Paxton Street, Willaston.

The Gawler Visitor Information Centre, a centrally located venue supplying locals and visitors with key information about many of the different attractions and sites of the Gawler and Barossa areas.

The Friends of the Clock tower team is managed and run by volunteers who maintain, restore and wind the clock on a weekly basis.

The HACC (Home & Community Care) Home Assist program The Town of Gawler helps to support frail, aged and disadvantaged members of the community through assistance with general home care tasks and social support.

The Town of Gawler Library is supported by a team of volunteers, both directly and through the Friends of the Library team. Included in these programs are services such as home visits from the library, which visits elderly and restricted members of the Gawler Community in delivering social support and library materials.

Community Services

The Gawler Volunteer Resource Centre - The Gawler Volunteer Resource Centre provides information and support to volunteers, volunteer coordinators and volunteer organisations to assist them to deliver their programs and activities for the benefit of the Gawler community.

The volunteer services supplied by the Town of Gawler help support members of the general Gawler community, as well as those within disadvantaged or sometimes marginalised communities. As members of the Gawler community help support and assist their fellow neighbours, they actively strengthen and build upon friendships and relationships. This helps contribute to the cohesive and supportive community of Gawler, where individuals work together to strengthen and improve their community.
