for theKaurnapeopleprior toEuropean
settlement. Thenatural biodiversity values
of these rivers are still enjoyedby theentire
community throughactiveandpassive
activities along the river courses.
Gawler’s expectedpopulationgrowth
will placepressureon thenatural
resources and the rivers ecosystems.
Thecommunity has recognised this and
wants toprotect theseassets for future
generationsby endeavouring tomitigate
theeffectsof climatechange, population
increaseanddevelopment growthby
improving local and regional water, waste
andenergymanagement practices.
