On 15February, 2013a review committeewas formed to oversight of theExecutiveOfficer
ServicesContract, including the annual contract performance reviewprocess.

GawlerRiver FloodMitigationScheme
The ‘Scheme’ is described in the ‘Gawler River FloodMitigationScheme’, publ
ished by the
NorthernAdelaide andBarossaCatchmentWaterManagement Boardand theDepartment
ofWater, Land andBiodiversityConservation, October 2002. Based on theGawler River
FloodManagement Study - FloodManagement Plan prepared for TheGawler River Flood
ManagementWorkingParty, BCTonkinandAssociates, April 1994.
Following theNovember 2005 flood, theAustralianGovernment, SouthAustralian
Government, the sixConstituent Councils and theNorthernAdelaideBarossaCatchment
WaterManagement Board committed toa funding package totalling $20million to implement
TheScheme comprised three parts as follows:
The construction of a floodmitigation damon theNorthParaRiver nearGawler
BruceEastickNorthParaFloodMitigationDamwas completed inDecember 2007.
Modifications to thedamwall and spillway of theSouthParaReservoir toprovide
themodifications reached practical completion in June 2012.
Construction of levees including the formalization of a controlled parallel flowpath
together with sensitive vegetationand channel maintenance along the lower reaches
of theGawler River - tobe later described asStrategy 6d
this part of theScheme
was abandoned following the findings of theGawler RiverMappingStudy in 2008.
InFebruary 2008, theGawler RiverMappingStudywas completed to identify the impact of
theMarch 2007estimates and to identify strategies tomitigate the impact of flooding.
In June2009, theBoardamended theBusinessPlan to include the preparation of a
River FloodMitigationScheme
, planned tobuild on the studies of recent years
and bring forward strategies that can cost effectively reduce the impact of flooding from the
Gawler River. Thedevelopment of theMarkTwoScheme hadbeen delayed by the need to
provide additional funding to complete themodifications to theSouthParaReservoir.
