The2013/14summer at theGawlerAquaticCentrewas
ahugesuccesswitha record59,624visitations to the
centre, buildingon theachievementsof the2012/13
season.
Akey to thissuccesswas theGawlerAquaticCentre
SwimSchool program, VACSWIM, swimmingcarnivals
and for thefirst timeaSouthAustralianMasters
SwimmingAssociationevent.
The2013/14GawlerAquaticCentreSwimSchool
seasonwasagreat successboth inandout of the
water,with theall thehardwork leading to theprogram
beingawarded the2014AUSTSWIMRecognisedSwim
CentreStateAwardat theSouthAustralianAUSTSWIM
IndustryAwards.Thisaward recognisesaSwimCentre
whohasdemonstratedexcellence, commitment and
innovation in thedevelopment anddeliveryof swimming
andwater safetyprogramsandhasseen theprogram
nominated for aNationalAward.TheSwimSchool
programgrewdramaticallyduring the2013/14season
with lessonsofferedsixdaysaweek,with theprogram
addingclassesonThursdayafternoons.Adult lessons,
private lessonsandaprogram for swimmerswitha
disabilitywere introducedduring the2013/14season.
Thesechangesandnumerous improvements in
programdeliveryandstructureachievedan increase
inparticipants forTerms4and1ofmore than40%
compared to the2012/13season.
FuturePlan -GawlerAquaticCentre
2014/15promises tobeanexcitingswimseasonwith the
appointment plannedof anewAquaticCentreManager
and theupgradingof thepool heaters, toenable theuse
of theCentre tobeginonearlyOctober 2014.
