Gawler’s maps take us on an exciting journey through Kaurna territory, native vegetation and landscape, from exploration to the town’s settlement. The exhibition covers the 1839 Special Survey, the Light Finniss & Co Gawlertown map of 1839 and subsequent growth. View the development of train lines and the horse-drawn tram, twentieth-century wartime maps, cemeteries and other features. The maps will be displayed at the launch of a public map database at the Gawler Civic Centre. Includes historic maps from the Gawler Cultural Heritage Collection.
