Supporting Business – COVID-19 update

The latest COVID-19 update from the Government of South Australia

Thanks to your cooperation adhering to social distancing measures, and an impressive testing regime, South Australia may soon be in a position to scale down some of the business restrictions in place.

A Transition Committee has been established to see South Australia recover from the public health emergency and reboot the economy. First priorities of the Committee, which includes Professor Nicola Spurrier and Commissioner Grant Stevens, are facilitating the safe return of funeral services and allowing travel to regional South Australia.

A reminder that the best action you can take to keep our community safe as restrictions ease is to download the COVIDSafe App.

There are so many brilliant ways to stay connected, informed and educated during this time, so visit the Supporting Business in SA page for further details.

Council is aware of the significant financial impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our community, and stands ready to assist those in our community who have been affected.

In direct response to the adverse financial impact being experienced by many in the Gawler community as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Gawler has now introduced a suite of financial relief measures to affected ratepayers.

If you are a ratepayer that has become unemployed or underemployed, or if you are a business that is in financial hardship, you can now apply to have your rates payments deferred, without financial penalty, for 6 months.

The Council will also not be applying any non-payment fines and interest against any ratepayer during this 6 month period expiring at the end of September 2020.

Application forms for the six month deferral of rates can be downloaded HERE. Once completed, please email to:
