Proposed Parking Changes on Murray Street and Julian…

To address these concerns, Council is considering implementing parking changes to improve the functionality of and access to on-street car parking in the area.

The proposed changes introduce timed parking controls to encourage higher vehicle turnover.

Council contributes to how attractive Gawler is for businesses to set up, and established enterprises to grow. It also plays a key role in the lifecycle of a small business. Council is a signatory to the Small Business Friendly Council Initiative and part of this initiative is implementing activities to improve the operating environment for small business within its area. Consequently, Council is considering new parking controls as a way to improve customer access to local businesses increasing turnover in the local area and supporting the local economy.

On-street parking along Murray Street (south of Bridge Street) and Julian Terrace (north and south of Bridge Street) is currently untimed and offers all day unrestricted parking. The local area has approximately one hundred (100) on-street car parking spaces along with several privately owned off-street car park facilities. The proposed changes introduce 4P (four hour parking) from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and passenger loading and unloading zones within the area.

As part of its commitment to understanding our community’s concerns and aspirations, Council invites all members of our community to submit feedback regarding the proposed parking changes.

A map outlining the proposed parking changes is available for public viewing at the Gawler Administration Centre, Gawler Sport and Community Centre, Evanston Gardens Community Centre or can accessed below.
