The Town of Gawler has secured Open Space Grant funding from the State Government’s Planning and Development Fund to develop a Playspace at Elliot Goodger Memorial Park (Willaston Oval) in the 2018/19 financial year. The Willaston BMX Club was also successful in securing funding through the State Governement’s Fund My Neighbourhood program, for the development of a Pumptrack. The Pumptrack will be adjacent the existing BMX Club track at Willaston Oval.

The Town of Gawler is seeking feedback from the residents and families of Willaston on the proposed Playspace and Pumptrack options. The Pumptrack is intended to compliment the existing competition level BMX track at Willaston and provide a facility for community use. The Pumptrack can accommodate scooters, skateboards and bikes, with access for all ages.

The Playspace is intended to be inclusive for all, with a nature based aesthetic and influence including some typical structured play items such as a swing and slide. Following community consultation, feedback received will inform the final site location and design for the new Playspace and Pumptrack. Additional items for consideration include seating, a picnic bench, a rubbish bin, shade, additional landscaping, fencing and carparking.

Please refer below for concept plans indicating the identified Pumptrack location and options for the location of the Playspace. To better understand community needs in relation to the Pumptrack and location of the Playspace, you are invited to provide your feedback detailing a preference for one of the five nominated locations.

Further to this Council is interested in hearing from the young people of Willaston on what types of play experiences they would like to see incorporated into the design of the Playspace. Please refer to the examples.
