Overview

Council passed its By-laws on 28 August 2012 and they were gazetted on 13 September 2012. The current By-laws will expire on 1 January 2020. This means that pursuant to section 251 of the Local Government Act 1999 (the Act), they are due to officially expire on 1 January 2020.

In accordance with Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1999, The Town of Gawler gives notice of its intention to make the following By-laws as part of its 2019 By-law Review.

1. By-law No.5 of 2019 - Dogs - For the management and control of dogs within the Council’s area.

2. By-law No.6 of 2019 - Cats - For the management and control of cats within Council’s area.

Members of the community are invited to provide feedback on the proposed By-laws to assist Council in its decision making.

Hard copies of the proposed By-laws are also available for inspection, free of charge, during normal business hours from the Council’s Administration Centre 43 High Street, Gawler East SA 5118.

Hard copy responses marked ‘By-law Review’ may also be mailed to Council, marked to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer at 43 High Street, Gawler East SA 5118.

Feedback via hard copy and online must be received by close of business on 11 July 2019.
