Gawler History Walk
The Gawler History Walk will focus on early development of Gawler including Kaurna history, first European visits, surveying and land sales, and significant features of the 1839 Light Plan for Gawler. Walk around areas showcasing the first 100 years of built development in Gawler. The walk will also feature churches, houses, a hotel, and schools in Gawler’s Church Hill State Heritage Area, with buildings dating to 1842. Additionally, it will include a tour of the remains of Gawler’s historic Victoria Mill, which commenced flour-milling in 1845, cover interesting flora that date back to pre-colonial times, and detail some of the interesting plants set in Gawler’s streets, squares, and gardens. This walk will conclude in time for ‘Gawler’s Dark History’ at 4pm. $5 donation paid on the day.

Gawler's Dark History with Allen Tiller
Join award-winning historian Allen Tiller as he returns to the Gawler National Trust Museum to present ‘Gawler’s Dark History’. Allen will shine the spotlight on the history of Gawler’s dark underbelly, and discuss the town’s nastiest accidents, suicide pacts, accidental deaths, and crimes that haunt Gawler’s past. Proceeds donated to the Museum.

Gawler Benefited from the Power of Steam
A 1900s etching looks over the heart of Gawler and shows numerous tall chimneys belching smoke and flame. What was this all about? Gawler powered everything from flour mills to farm machinery manufacture, and locomotive production. All to do with employment of people, jobs, and making money. We illustrate this with models, pictures, and movies.
