Welcome from CEO Chris Cowley
On behalf of our Elected Members, staff and our wider community, I warmly welcome you to the Town of Gawler.
The Town of Gawler acknowledges that the town is located on the traditional country of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. It recognises and respects their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land.
Located 42 kilometres north of Adelaide, our town is embedded in history and our natural riverine environment. Gawler is a short drive to the Barossa and Clare Valleys, Adelaide Hills, Murray-lands and Riverland regions and has rich history becoming South Australia’s first regional settlement back in 1839. Prior to this, Gawler has been a meeting place for aboriginal peoples for thousands of years.
You will join close to 26,000 residents who call the Town of Gawler home, and I hope that as you become more settled, you will become an active and engaged member of our local community.
This page has been created to welcome you into our town and give you information on the basic services we offer. Below you will find information on Council services, the community, what to do and what to see and information about your new Council.
We hope Gawler proves to be a rewarding and fulfilling place for you to live, work and play, and I encourage you to contact us whenever you need further information or assistance.
