(Miyurna-itya, meaning For the People)

Miyurna-itya / Apex Park is located right in the heart of Gawler on Julian Terrace and on the bank of the South Para River. It’s a popular meeting place and the location for many community events, including, over the years, a number of reconciliation focused events.

The park includes exercise equipment, barbeque facilities, and new public amenities, as well as a newly upgraded inclusive playspace. The cycle-walking path, part of Tapa Pariara (the Gawler River Path), runs alongside the river.

The large gums within the park and along the riverbank showcase the abundant bird life, most notably the local Kookaburras.

This park is also the location of a more recent scar tree, from which Jack Buckskin cut a Kaurna shield in 2018. The Shield is on display in the Gawler Civic Centre.

It is important to note that the Gawler branded signage displaying the Gawler logo and date est. 1839, is in reference to the establishment of the Town of Gawler itself. We acknowledge that the Adelaide Plains region, including the land that is now known as the Town of Gawler, has been occupied by the Kaurna people for many thousands of years.
