(Taingiwirlta Ngangkirna Mukapaanthi, meaning Remembering Courageous Women)

The Pocket Park located on Whitelaw Terrace, was created as an extension of the Walker Place redevelopment and following the removal of outdated amenities and the provision of new public amenities at other nearby locations. The Pocket Park was designed and landscaped to be both aesthetically pleasing and a space that can be utilised by the community.
The mural on display in this space, titled ‘Remembering Courageous Women’, comprises six large mosaic panels and pays tribute to the many women and children who have died as a result of domestic and family violence. This initiative was led by the Zonta Club of Gawler, the Gawler Domestic Violence Network, and local mosaic artist Sandra Sullivan, with involvement by other community groups and individuals, and significant support from Council.
Taingiwirlta Ngangkirna Mukapaanthi, meaning Remembering Courageous Women, is the Kaurna name for this place of reflection and contemplation.
