The Town of Gawler is home to a variety of parks, gardens, and reserves, offering a wide range of activities for both residents and visitors. Many of these beautiful open spaces are nestled along Gawler’s scenic river corridors, creating picturesque settings perfect for picnics and relaxation.
With lush green lawns, shaded areas, playgrounds, barbecue facilities, recreational equipment, and walking paths, Gawler’s parks, gardens, and reserves are ideal for a fun-filled day out for all ages. Whether you’re looking to unwind in nature, explore with the family, or enjoy outdoor activities, these vibrant spaces have something for everyone.
The Town of Gawler Playspace Strategy will guide the planning, development and management of playspaces over the next 25 years. It provides:
- The rationale for council’s approach to the planning and provision of playspaces
- Service levels that will guide the type and level of provision at each site
- Recommendations for the upgrade of existing playspaces and development of new playspaces
The Playspace Strategy provides a clear picture of how playspaces should feel and look, and the types of play they will encourage. Playspace settings should be places where community feels safe, welcomed, and where families and children are able to participate, regardless of age or ability.
There are currently 21 playspaces in Gawler. These include smaller local playspaces such as the Calton Road (Gawler East) and Bacton Street (Evanston) playspaces; and larger neighbourhood playspaces such as at Clonlea Reserve (Willaston) and Apex Park (Gawler).
