We are proud to announce that the Town of Gawler has been recognised with not one, but TWO prestigious awards for 2024!

2024 Awards

2024 EXCELLENCE AWARD IN ROAD SAFETY

On 21 November 2024, we received the 2024 Excellence Award in Road Safety from the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia. This award honours the Redbanks Road Pedestrian Refuge and Shared Use Path, a project funded by the South Australian Government through the Community Infrastructure Grant Program.

Local Member of Parliament, Tony Piccolo MP said that this $760,000 election commitment project, delivered on behalf of the State Government, has enhanced pedestrian safety at the Redbanks Road / Weyland Road / Haines Road / Dawson Road roundabout. It’s a vital step in providing safer infrastructure and facilities for our community.

Council engaged the services of Camco SA Pty Ltd to undertake the construction works.

2024 MINISTER FOR HEALTH AND WELLBEING’S EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC HEALTH AWARD

On 22 November 2024, we were named the regional winner of the 2024 Minister for Health and Wellbeing’s Excellence in Public Health Award. This recognition highlights our leadership in building regulatory efficiencies for sustainable onsite wastewater system management.

This joint initiative is a collaboration between several councils, including Alexandrina Council, District Councils of Renmark Paringa and Yankalilla, Town of Gawler, Port Lincoln City Council, and Cities of Onkaparinga and Playford. It’s an outstanding example of teamwork delivering meaningful environmental outcomes.

We are thrilled to be acknowledged for our commitment to innovation, safety, and community wellbeing!
