Coventry Road Reconstruction – Access Changes and Dust Management

Following community feedback regarding dust impacts, Council has worked closely with Devine and the project contractor, LAKA Civil, to adjust the project’s delivery methodology.

A key contributor to dust was vehicles travelling on unfinished road surfaces. To address this, Coventry Road will be closed to through traffic between Gordon Road and Orleana Boulevard for the majority of the remaining reconstruction works. This change will be implemented shortly and will remain in place until bitumen has been laid on the trafficable sections of the road.

While this will require detours for approximately 5–6 weeks, the revised approach will allow standard dust suppression measures, such as water carts, to operate more effectively and significantly reduce dust impacts during construction.

Access for residents within the work zone will be maintained at all times, with property access available via the northern end of Coventry Road only.

Current construction progress includes:

  • Stormwater installation completed
  • Road sub-base placement completed
  • One SAPN trench crossing currently underway
  • Concrete kerb installation commencing shortly
  • Bitumen placement scheduled to commence from 2 March 2026

Once bitumen works are complete, road traffic conditions will return to normal.

Council and the contractor acknowledge the temporary inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community’s patience while these essential works are completed. The contractor’s full letter, including Project Manager contact details, is available below.
