Message from Mayor Nathan Shanks
Council is deeply saddened to hear of the passing on Saturday of Councillor Paul Koch, who served the Gawler community with dedication and integrity since first being elected in 2010.
A resident of more than 30 years and an Elected Member for over 15 years, Paul remained active and deeply committed to the Gawler community despite his illness, continuing to make a meaningful contribution to Council and public life. He was well known around Gawler for having a passionate environmental focus and also his long-standing volunteer work training guide dogs. He was often seen out and about with a guide dog by his side. Paul was very active on Council committees, including the GRFMA, Gawler & Districts College Governing Body and NAWMA.
Paul’s experience, leadership and genuine care for the people of Gawler will be greatly missed. On behalf of Councillors, CEO Chris Cowley and all Town of Gawler staff, I extend sincere condolences to Margaret and Paul’s family at this difficult time.
Vale Paul Koch.
