The July school holiday program reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to providing a diverse range of opportunities for young people and the wider community in Gawler.
Across the school holidays, Council is offering an exciting mix of activities and events spanning recreation, arts and culture, learning, entertainment and personal development, ensuring there is something for all ages and interests.
For young people aged 12–25, Gawler Youth will deliver a varied program of workshops and activities designed to inspire creativity, build confidence and support skill development. This July’s program includes opportunities such as barista training, photography, creative arts, first aid and theatre workshops. These experiences help young people explore new interests, develop practical life skills and strengthen their connection to the community.
As Mayor Nathan Shanks said,
“The July school holiday program is another great example of Council’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people in our community.
This July, we’re excited to offer a diverse range of activities focused on recreation, arts, music, leadership and personal development, ensuring there is something for everyone aged 12 to 25 years.
The Youth Space is all about creating opportunities for young people who live, work, study, play or volunteer in Gawler. These programs not only provide fun and engaging experiences during the school holidays but also help young people develop valuable life skills, build friendships and strengthen their connection to the community.”
Beyond youth-focused activities, there is also a strong lineup of events across Council venues, including Gawler Libraries and the Gawler Civic Centre. These programs offer a wide range of experiences for the broader community, from hands-on workshops and educational activities through to live performances and entertainment.
Council libraries continue to provide engaging holiday programs that encourage creativity, literacy and lifelong learning, while the Civic Centre hosts a variety of shows and events designed to bring the community together and celebrate culture and entertainment in Gawler.
As CEO Chris Cowley said,
“Our Youth Space continues to be a vibrant hub where young people can connect, learn new skills, express their creativity and build confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.
I encourage all eligible young people to explore the program and get involved in what promises to be an exciting and rewarding school holiday experience.”
All Gawler Youth participants are required to complete a Gawler Youth Space Membership Form prior to attending. The form collects emergency contact details and will be emailed following booking confirmation.
