Additional plants will also be available for purchase for $2.50 each and are available to anyone.
Plant species available include:
- Small trees
- Large shrubs
- Lilies
- Daisies
- Native grasses
- Groundcovers
All plant stock has been locally sourced and grown through the Gawler Environment and Heritage Association and Fitzy's Natives.
Friendly staff and volunteers will also be available on the day to provide horticultural advice and information about suitable plant species for local properties and gardens.
Supporting a Greener Gawler
The Town of Gawler has invested $5,000 during the 2025/26 financial year to support the Native Plant Giveaway Program and Greening Gawler Incentive Program for residents and landowners.
Four previous giveaway events were held throughout 2025, with remaining funding supporting this final event.
Planting locally suited native species can help:
- Support native birds, insects and pollinators
- Improve biodiversity and environmental resilience
- Increase shade and cooling across the community
- Reduce water use and long-term garden maintenance
- Create greener and more beautiful neighbourhoods
The program also supports key Council strategies including the Biodiversity Management Plan, Climate Emergency Action Plan, Beautification Plan and Tree Management Plan.
