Remember when Council engaged with you in Spring 2023, on how you wished to see your local playspace upgraded? Well, we listened to you and we’ve been busy!

Working in collaboration with Proludic Pty Ltd, Council is excited to release two new concept designs, each including several play elements and experiences which we would love to hear your feedback on! Did we get it right? What would you change?

Frequently Asked Questions

All Council playspace assets are scheduled for replacement once they reach a certain age and condition. Their upgrade also allows for contemporary, diverse and inclusive play and recreational experiences.

The Town of Gawler recognises that everyone in our community has the right to access quality open spaces and participate in active recreation equally. In line with Council’s Disability, Access and Inclusion Play and Playspace and Inclusivity Strategy, we endeavour to include accessible equipment and supporting infrastructure at a range of playspaces across our Town. The Ayling and Dwyer Lime Kiln Park Playspace upgrade presents an ideal opportunity to champion key principles of universal design, to increase the diversity and range of play experiences, and quality and quantity of supporting amenities and infrastructure, to support access and inclusion for people of all ages and abilities.

Yes. All Council playground assets are routinely inspected and repaired as required in accordance with the Australian Standards.

The playspace is scheduled for construction in Spring this year, pending adoption of Council’s Annual Business / Budget Plan 2024-25.

No. All existing trees will be retained and protected.

A small section of lawn at the top of the slope, will be removed to accommodate more play equipment.

Yes. The existing fence surrounding the park will be retained. In response to increased traffic volumes along Redbanks Road, new air lock gates will be added to support increased safety for families entering and exiting the open space.

Previous Engagement

A family feedback activity was launched, inviting people to vote for their top playground equipment and play experiences, using only 10 points!
