Overview

The Town of Gawler Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) has been in place since May 2018 and since this time has achieved a number of deliverables.

The Gawler DAIP aims to ensure that the Gawler community becomes more accessible and inclusive of people living with disability, to help people within the community that are living with a disability to contribute to the Town and feel welcome, have access to services, visit local businesses and open public spaces, and participate in everyday activities.

The passing of the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 requires all State authorities (including Local Government authorities) to publish a DAIP that aligns with the new State Government Plan, Inclusive SA: State Disability Inclusion Plan 2019-2023.

Councils with an existing DAIP are not required to produce a new DAIP but to undertake a review and identify how it aligns with the themes, priority areas and actions of the State Plan. In this regard the current Gawler DAIP has been revised.

The revised Gawler DAIP can be accessed BELOW with the amendments highlighted in blue font.

The current Gawler DAIP can be accessed here: https://www.gawler.sa.gov.au/about-gawler/disability-access-inclusion-plan

The State Disability Inclusion Plan can be accessed here: https://dhs.sa.gov.au/services/disability/inclusive-sa

A full review of the Gawler DAIP will occur in 2022 at which time extensive community engagement will be undertaken.
